Default Can't get DD5.1 out of BD30

For some reason I can't get Dolby Digital 5.1 out of my Panasonic BD30. I had one of the earliest firmware updates that there was and didn't get it and now I updated to v2.2 thinking that maybe was it but still can't get it. WTF?

I just have the BD30 hooked up with a fiber optic cable the same way I had my PS3 hooked up and I had no problem with the DD5.1 from the PS3. I don't understand how I can't get it from the BD30. All I can get is Pro Logic II.

Any tips or troubleshooting I can do to get my 5.1 kicking again? Thanks in advance.

Do you have the audio on the 4 selections of setup set to bitstream? If you use HDMI for video, make sure the audio is set to off. This is how mine is set and I have no trouble with DD or DTS 5.1.

I have hdmi and optical connected. If I turn audio off hdmi out, bd30 set to bitstream and select dolby digital sound track from a disk I get dolby digital at the receiver as well. Even get the Dolby digital ex/es 6.1.

It sounds like something is set wrong. There were improvements to the digital out with this and the last firmware updates however. But no reports that I am aware of that you can't get dd 5.1 out.

Well I have a Denon right now and performance wise it has been good. Doesn't do any HD sound or anything though.

What are some good makes and models that decode the HD sound formats that are on the cheap end of the scale? Maybe I'll upgrade the receiver in another year or so.

If you aren't in a hurry the new Denon's will be out soon. The Pioneer 1018 is a good value as well. Have sour taste in my mouth regarding Yamaha's. I have a Pioneer 1015 and can't part with it. The 1018 seems to be a well featured yet affordable unit.

I was not Denon fan until recently and now really am sold on them. The 1909 is going to offer a LOT!
