Makes me happy I bought my Panny BD30 for $350 here in the Blackmarket section. The ethernet jack and internal decoding does not justify the premium price.

The price is just

If someone does not want to upgrade their expensive receiver or pre-pro, it is EASILY worth the price.

I sure hope there is a standard discount off the MSRP at places like Amazon. Most of the other Blu-ray players (and the Toshiba HD ones) were being sold there for at least $100 off the MSRP.

I had hoped for a $600 MSRP but until we know what it actually sells for, I don't know how bad this is. The player should be really good, so Samsung, Funai, and Philips should be really glad it is going to be much higher as their players wouldn't sell if it wasn't.

I would definitely pay that much if it had a wireless connection, because I want an online capable player for my projector that isn't a Playstation 3.

Much higher than I would have expected. However it's an all n' one solution!

That's insane. Even if it's discounted by $100 by the time it reaches Amazon or Best Buy Panasonic has no business asking that much when the PS3 cost almost half as much.

I had planned on buying the BD50 as soon as the reviews were in but think I'll wait and look at the Sony's or see what Oppo has up their sleeve. Besides, my BDP1400 hasn't failed me yet.

I think most people were hopeful that MSRP would be $599 in which Amazon or other retailers would have it for $499. With the MSRP at $699 that changes things...I might be waiting a while to get one.

Personally, I was hoping the the MSRP would be $499 so I could get it around $399 but I knew that was wishful thinking...now it looks like getting it for even $499 is wishful thinking as well.

Looks like I would be keeping an eye open for deals on the BD30...

WOW. Didn't think it was going to be that high. I figured $499 or so. Hmmm... starting to wonder if I really want this now.

I am sure if HD-DVD were still around it would probably get as low as 499. But since there really isn't any need for competition, its gonna be higher for the time being.
