Refurbished Samsung/Philips Blu-ray players - starting at $230, read on!
Now that the format war is now over I found some great deals on some refurbished Blu-ray players on two very trusted sites, the first is RefurbDepot.com. Now before you either attack me or praise about providing this info all I’m doing is letting people know about the deal if they wish to jump into hi-def without breaking the bank. There is always a negative stigma towards refurbished products but that is up to you. The prices aren’t bad and if you don’t want to spend $400+ to get a BDP this is an option. The following players that I found on the site are the:
-Samsung BDP-1200 for $229.95 - http://www.refurbdepot.com/productde...roduct_ID=5342
-Samsung BDP-1400 for $259.95 - http://www.refurbdepot.com/productde...roduct_ID=5795
-Samsung BD-UP5000 (dual format HD-DVD/Blu-ray player) for $499.95 - http://www.refurbdepot.com/productde...roduct_ID=6118
The Philips Outlet also has one refurbished player on their site, here it is:
-Philips BDP9000/37B for $299.99 with free shipping - http://www.outlet.philips.com/b2c_re...og&shop=OUTLET
I have bought many refurbished items from both sites and I haven’t had any problems with anything. So you may want to check out these deals if you want an inexpensive BDP. A website, SquareTrade.com offers warranties on refurbished products where you can buy an extra year of warranty protection on top of whatever is offered from the manufacturer for piece of mind.DVD's - 525

I actually picked up a refurbished p-1400 from refurbdepot.com about 2 weeks ago. I have not been home to test the unit, but I can say shipping was quick and flawless.
Also just to note I paid $237 for my unit 2 weeks ago, the same site has it for $259.95 now.Currently Playing: HALO 4, Dead Island -

Unfortunately, Sony raised the price on the refurbished BDP-S300 $40. The Samsung BD-UP5000 Blu-ray/HD DVD dual format player at $380 plus shipping at Refurbdepot.com is another option for somebody interested in a refurbished player.

The price is either a mistake or wishful thinking, but it is no surprise that these players that required several firmware updates have been returned and firmware updated and offered for sale as refurbished. It is a problem for the average consumer to get the news that firmware updates are needed and then to do that themselves. The disc doesn't play, the player goes back is how it often worked out. I am having great luck with refurbished players and have several. I believe the player was made by Pioneer and it is pretty good, but that price is absurd.
