Default Samsung BDP-1400

Just got this from Samsung:

Samsung's new Blu-ray player, model BD-P1400 is scheduled to ship in late July 07'

This is probably why the BDP-1200 has dropped in price.

Nothing as far as specs. All I know is model number, end of July shipment, and the BDP1200 MSRP dropped to $599

This is cool. I believe I read that the 3rd gen players from Samsung will at least be profile 1.1. Hopefully it will also be profile 2.0.

This just might be the player I've been waiting for.

Can the PS3 be upgraded via firmware to be BD-J 2.0 compatible? I am 99.9%confident that it has 1 gb of free local storage space.

No one knows for sure. I think there is a lot of confusion about what exactly the PS3 could do in the future.

Talk about a long of angry customers if Sony came out and said their PS3 wouldn't work with one of the BD profiles.

If they are releasing another player ALREADY my guess is that it will probably have the ability to send out the lossless TrueHD and MA through HDMI 1.3 as bitstream. I don't know about profile 1.1 or 2.0, those are suppose to be finalized for a few more months.

I really wish they would release the specs on this player soon so I know whether to keep my BD-P1200 or not. I could use the cash and I have a PS3 at my disposal for BD playing for a while. I can always buy another player when I need it. All I care about is the Reon chip.. if the BD-P1400 doesn't have the Reon chip, I will be holding onto my 1200.
