sonofabitch! they did do it in the fall of 2009!
We were talking in another thread about this might be delayed and not actually make the fall 09 dealine
The only thing bad I can say is they send you a coupon instead of the movie like WB does. Which kept your cost down to minimum, but if you catch a sale you might make out better. -

I hope this does not replace their general practice of issuing $10 Off or $8 Off coupons through Disney Movie Rewards by simply inputting the UPC of the SD-DVD.

I guess this is their way of making sure that you do in fact own the movie before you get a coupon. I guess they learned a thing or two after everyone with an internet connection found out the UPC code for Snow White DVD and started printing out snow white bluray coupons even though Disney probably only intended for those with DVD copies of Snow white to be able to get the coupon.

So, if I understand correctly, you mail this in to get coupons from Disney. You then use the coupons to purchase that Blu-Ray version at participating retailers? So, I guess we're out of luck if we already bought those titles beforehand, because we can't redeem the coupons post-purchase?

Kind of confused. Didn't see this anywhere in the FAQs. Do you just get 8 dollars off of a Blu-ray at the participating stores, or do you get the Blu-ray for 8 dollars?

looks like its a coupon for $8 off the new bluray.

This is really clunky. If I understand correctly: if I want to buy A Bug's Life on Blu-ray, I need to mail in my proof of purchase from my DVD, wait a while, then get a coupon and then bring that to a store when I buy the same movie. Not very user-friendly. Why not just put the coupons in the Blu-ray cases like they did before? Or just send the coupons to people who request them by phone/e-mail? Why do they need the proof of purchase first? You can't get the $8 without the proof of purchase at some point.

well if it's only $8 off on the bd that's a joke.
not worth all the effort imo if that's the deal.
now if it's $8 for the bd after you prove you bought the dvd then that is reasonable. -

so I have to wait around 60 days to get my coupon then i can only use it for a 30 day window. Not knowing what sales will be around that day and the fact that the normal price at most retailers is $30-$40 for these titles, I'd be better off waiting for a sale without the coupon anyways.
