Default DANCES WITH WOLVES $25 @ Amazon UK

Amazon has Dances With Wolves in the UK for $25 shipped.

This title From Warner Home Video is unlocked and will play in the U.S.

Long-time Blu-ray fans should remember that Wolves was announced in the US and then cancelled.

AmazonUK Good catch.

I do not think it will be coming to the US any time soon. If I remember right it was an Orion film and they were bought by MGM who is in bad shape right now.

It also should be noted that there is a German edition of the film that is the extended cut (with DTS HD MA 7.1), where as the UK edition is the Theatrical cut. The down side is the German edition is Region B locked

As the OP of this thread, I double-checked the time on my player and it is indeed the theatrical cut of 181 minutes.

How long do we have to wait for a director's cut?

As noted by The Doctor, MGM owns the US rights and they're in a dire financial situation (bankruptcy has been suggested several times in the media), so I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for a US release. Also as noted by The Doctor, the German release is the extended version, but Region B locked. I own it and think it is an excellent transfer, and I prefer the extended version. Someone pointed out in the Imports thread that it is the theatrical version that won all the Academy Awards. Some even say the extended footage is somewhat "preachy" as it gives further insight into the lives of Natives Americans and how pristine the environment was then but, again, I prefer the extended version.

There is also a French release that is region free and I think it is the extended version, but most who have purchased it say the color timing is all off with a yellow haze over everything, there is PAL audio speedup, and the detail is not very good.
