At least in the Twin Cities Metro area, there's no problem getting ahold of either WoO or Gremlins at Target. I picked up both at 3pm on Tuesday (and there were between 5-10 copies of each on the rack at the time), and this evening (getting last-minute dinner stuff) the racks seemed even more fully-stocked for both titles than before.
On a side note: simply holding the slim, slipcovered and elegantly designed Target version of WoO against the extremely lovely, but so-fucking-ginormous-that-you' d-better-get-a'-building-on-that addition Ultimate Edition, it's pretty clear to me where the real, real bargain is. (Hint: it ain't the giant box. And please, no jokes about how a giant box isn't a bargain.

Picked up the Emerald Edition last night at Target - got the LAST ONE at my local store. I figured it had to be a sign and so I snapped it up. Watched it last night and all I can say is "Wow -this film has never looked so good!" Sure, there's a lot of grain, brightness shifts, and the like by today's standards, but this is a film from 1939, and if you compare to any version out there, this just blows them all away. This is one case where I don't mind paying the slightly inflated "collectors edition" price; for this gorgeous remaster, plus ALL the exclusive content of the UCE save the Digital Copy and promo items, all in a standard-size BD case that fits nicely on my shelf. What more could anyone ask for? :-)

just FYI, I got a Email from Tivo and Netflix is hosting a free one day (Oct 3rd) only Wizard of OZ on demand. The Email makes it seem as if the WOZ will be HD. I know it is not the same thing as blu quality, but there it is and its free for netflix and tivo members

Good thing you picked it up jmayer33 because I was just at Target here in Pasadena,Ca and it was gone. The UE was in stock for $69.99, however, the Emerald Edition was gone on Tuesday. Now, Gremlins was there. I'm trusting all of you in here. There were eight of them there. Please let me know if you don't have access to a Target in your town and I will pick it up and ship it to you. I know people want to have it badly. Peace....

i don't see any bad about it. yes it has a lot of grain, taht's what FILMS are supposed to look like. i bet you liked Patton's DNR'd look, or Gladiator or 35mm parts of the Dark Knight too. 2much DNR is HORRIBLE. it makes faces look waxy and you don't see their skin pores, with grain you can. that's the whole point of having BD, not waxy faces! -

I'm sorry. I love it on Blu-ray. To each his on on this one. Their is grain and it is clear in some spots to me as well. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. If 80% thinks Gremlins is horrible, then call Warner Brothers and ask them to let you have the original film, take it frame-by-frame, clean it up, then make your own copy. If 20% thinks it's great, which I'm part of, then there's no complaints here. Many people know there is grain. However, everyone can respect each other in here and move on. I think we've been on this topic about the quality for days now. How long has this movie been out now? Don't get me wrong, continue to post your opinions, but man, can we introduce another topic? I just posted some great news about a new Blu-ray drive that burns at 12x. Now that is something to talk about. What set top blu-ray player is burning at 12x right now? None. Peace.....Keep the comments coming though.

The Target exclusive WoO is up to $39.99 at least locally to me. I found one today, but they wouldn't budge on the price. I'll wait for it to come down again or pick it up when it most likely will be available everywhere.
