Probably only as good as your PC.

The Blu-ray drive is only $5 off, ROFL! And I have seen that LG drive as low as $84 online..... hundred bones for a READER is pretty standard right now.

now a BD-DL BURNER for $100 would be a good deal, but if it's not a burner... so it's not a good deal =P.

i'm still waiting for:
- BD burners to come down towards $40/drive. DVDRW are already $20/drive.
- arrival of quad layer 100GB BD spex and burner that can hold 3-D polarized content... but hey i can only dream right?

This is actually a pretty good drive. I'm looking at mine right now. I've only got a lowly P4 3.2GHz and this drive is a great CD/DVD burner (better than the SATA Plextor it replaced) and I've never had any problem playing any Blu-rays (and I can still multitask some if needed).

It's fairly quiet (at full spin speed it is a little noisy, but less so than other comparable drives) and quick.

Now, I don't know if $100 is a good deal or not. I happened to pay $100 for mine, but I bought it Black Friday 2008.

and it's also FAST, FYI =P.

i remember my FIRST BD drive from LG: GGC-H20L, it was like $300!!! 2nd one i got was 250!!!! =P.

so compared to that $100 is a steal .
