Default Great deal on Panasonic BD player

Panasonic DMP-BD605K @ Costco for $230 + tx less $60 instant rebate, good till 9/19/09.

I believe this is the same as the Pan BD60, however the Costco unit comes with an HDMI cable w/ 90 day (or maybe even unlimited!??) return policy.

I thought Costco was still "lifetime" for returns on players (Projectors, TVs and computers are 90 days)??

They are, as stated in their policy

Quote:
Merchandise: We guarantee your satisfaction on every product we sell with a full refund. The following must be returned within 90 days of purchase for a refund: televisions, projectors, computers, cameras, camcorders, iPOD / MP3 players and cellular phones.

If you don't have a membership or a store nearby, NewEgg.com is selling this one for $192 shipped. $235 for the DMP-BD80.

Don't forget 3% Bing cashback @ the Egg. DMP-BD60 after CB is $186.23. DMP-BD80 after CB is $227.90.

Buydig.com has a great deal on the 60, $180 shipped.

Onecall.com has the DMP-BD80 with SAVE20 coupon code for $230 shipped. Don't forget Bing.com cashback on this one either.

None of these places have a return policy like Costco, though. If you have a membership and you are looking for a solid primary player... this is a great deal.

Default Instant Rebate Rules

Don't think you can purchase this player for $170!

The way Costco computes its instant rebate does not favor the consumer.
Costco adds tax to the item first, then deducts the instant rebate.

In our state (7% tax), the out-the-door price would be $186.09. While this is indeed a good deal, just not a great one!

Correct, and as the OP stated, for NY the price works out to $230 + $19.84 tax - $60=$189.84.
Considering the value and time spent finding an HDMI cable, which is included, and if indeed Costco has an unlimited return policy...then this is a no-brainer.

Amazon has Panasonic DMP-BD60 player for $179 shipped. The BD80 is $228 shipped.

Amazon also has the new LG270 for $133 shipped. Excellent price for a name brand unit.

Costco does have an unlimited return policy for BD players. Makes this deal a no-brainer. I bought my BD35 at Costco and paid slightly more for it vs Amazon and several other online vendors, but that unlimited return policy was worth it.
