Default PS3 Slim for $50!.....Sorta

Found this deal for us canadian folk, not sure if it applies in the states as well...

Trade in your 60/80gig ps3 + 2 games and get the slim for $50. I'd say if they take ones that are NOT BC its worth it, otherwise no. I'm gonig to try and trade in my non BC one and see if it works. Since I imported all my RB1 songs into RB2, thats one game right there!

It's not worth if it's limited to BC models. Everyone I've talked to retail wise has stated the the BC systems sell for $400+ used because of how highly sought after they are. This is a prime example of Gamestop screwing over the consumer one more time. If the trade was for any model of ps3 plus 2 games then sure, but limiting it to the BC models AND requiring 2 games is ridiculous.

is there any earthly reason other than size issues to trade in an older PS3 for a new slim one?

I saw this the other day and wondered if I could macgyver up my broken BD drive (on the 80gb I have) enough to pass inspection and trade it in.

Backwards Compatible

Early, 1st generation PS3's were completely backwards compatible. Later, they were changed to be partially backwards compatible. After that, yet another revision came along the got rid of backwards compatibility altogether.

See if they take non BC 80 gigs, then this wouldnt be such a bad deal. In the US, its $150 off the slim if you trade in your old PS3 (at gamestop)

I have this condition. If we talk for too long, I'll forget how we started. Next time I see you, I'm not gonna remember this conversation. I don't even know if I've met you before. I've told you this before, haven't I?

Where are you going?
I am just leaving.
But where?
I have to return some videotapes.

I'm sorry, I think he was asking for a valid reason.

Cause as far as I can tell, it's a horrible deal.

LOL! The original poster advised this was a Canadian promo, so I thought BC models meant British Columbian models!
