Eh, its worth it to me. I buy movies for the movie, not the special features, and it does include the peter jackson audio commentary, which is good enough for me.

ooooooooooookkkkkkkkk,

and yes I'll be buying the LOTR set, I don't like the extended cuts very much, they added junk scenes mostly IMO, the story is less cohesive and doesn't flow as well in the Xtended cuts.

Thats a totally different thing. Theatrical vs extended....which, in the case of king kong..it has both! But again, I dont really care about extras. I watch the movie and thats about it. I dont think I have watched a single extra on any of the over 300 BDs that I own. I still go to the theater and I dont leave saying, well, it was ok, but since there was no making of the movie on after it, dont go see it cause its not the "Complete package". I know its just a personal choice, but I dont really care how they made a movie, or anything like that, I want to be entertained for my 2 hours or so and thats it.

Yea, I feel what you're saying. Features are important to me as well, though personally I don't think I can wait for the evident double dip. I want this now since it finally has the extended cut and I do actually miss King Kong from my library since I ebayed the HD-DVD version a while ago.

The LOTR set for me, might be a different story though.

Maybe I'm just asleep here, but I'd *swear* that's what I paid for this at B/M Walmart a couple months ago.

Snagged this and Miami Vice for 30$ shipped total. Seems to me that all Universal catch up titles have received a nice increase in features and aq/pq.

Kong was a demo disk on HD DVD but the bluray sounds even better from what I hear thanks to the inclusion of a DTS-MA track. Now that I have a Sony STR DG-820, my receiver can transmit the LPCM sent to it via the PS3 thru 5.1.

Miami vice didn't get as much of an update but I am a huge Michael Mann fan and really did enjoy the score of MV so I snagged that as well to get free shipping.

Also got Casino on BR for my b-day yesterday, it sounded great too!

Amazon in just matching Target. Target has King Kong for $14.99 in their ad this week.

Has another, more "complete" version been announced? If so, I may wait. If not, I only have the theatrical cut HD-DVD that came with my 360 drive, and would love to see the extended version as it is one of my favorite movies. Been wanting it for that, and I would expect the sound to be better even on my current DD/DTS only system than the HD-DVD through the 360.

Hastor, please read the thread ,this BD includes BOTH Theatrical and Extended Cut through seamless branching.

and FYI: the extended scenes are quite awesome and riveting (HINT: more creatures . just my 2 cents.

I love the extended version minus the horrible underwater scene. I can't stand how it clearly looks like people in front of a green screen with fans blowing on them put into slow motion. Ugh.

My secondary TV is in my livingroom and is a 42" Panasonic Viera 1080p plasma screen. I've got a Samsung BD-UP5000 connected to that for all my HD needs. No surround sound there, though.
