Thanks for the link, I was close to pulling the trigger on the Trilogy set, but 69.99 is a good enough price for me.

For those interested the Trilogy is down to 32.99

Looks like that's gonna be the best price for those who don't have a Fry's in their area.

Yep, I'm finally going to pull the trigger on the Trilogy. I've The Wrath of Khan in my cart at Amazon UK as I'm ordering some other titles from them, but it still works out to over $22 for just the one title, so $10 more the other 2 movies is just too good to pass up. Also, The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly decreased $17.99, so picking up that one as well.

And yep, no more pre-orders from Amazon for me.

i had mine on order/backorder since the 8th, and it shipped this morning....at the 79.99 price. i went to cancel the order, since i never got a shipping confirmation, and it shipped *TODAY*....naturally i was a bit furious.

the CSR did give me a pricematch credit on it, which is fair, considering they didn't ship it when they were supposed to, due to the shortage.

again, amazon does good by me!

Damnit it's $110 on Amazon.ca.

Hmm....I just can't justify buying this set since "Wrath of Khan" is the only true blu ray transfer.

I'll just have to wait.

/facepalm. They ALL are TRUE blu ray transfers. WoK was just the only one that got a ground up restoration. They all look MUCH better than the DVDs no matter what the AVS freaks say

I'm waiting as well. No true hidef(except Khan), and no extended cuts make this set a pass. Old film stock is not an excuse (look at 2001: A Space Odyessy). Get it right or dont bring it at all.

Ummm...no.

"Wrath of Khan" was the only one where they went back to the original film negative and made a transfer to blu ray.

All of the others are pulled from the 2001 DVD masters. Then they applied digital noise reduction and called that "high definition."

I don't want blu ray copies of 2001 DVD transfers. Paramount will eventually go back and double dip you guys by going back to the original negatives and making a true blu ray transfer, thus capturing the details not covered in the 2001 transfer and selling that.

Except DNR has been added to them - unlike what others has said. Screencaps didn't lie on AVS.

ummmm, as long as the master from 2001 was above 1080p it IS a high definition transfer *gasp, who would have thunk it. Just because it wasn't remastered yesterday doesn't make it not HI-def. Is it the best it can be??? no not in the least. I can easily detect the DNR, but they look one hell of a lot better the the DVDs.

oh yes, DNR HAS been applied. I saw it too. It's just that it looks a ton better than the crappy dvd's. Which , for the price, is all I can ask for.

Huh?

Except for Wrath, the movies are the old standard definition transfers, digitally enhanced by DNR to smooth out the grain and upconverted to 1080i.

I thought I said this.

Yes, they look better than the DVD's, but they are not true blu-ray high definition transfers. Yes, who would have thunk it?

NO they are NOT standard definition transfers. they are NOT 1080i, they are 1080p Those masters were Hi-def masters that were scaled down to standard dvd when put on 2001. These are not new fancy transfers from a new master. but HD ones nonetheless. they were making Hi-def masters that long ago yes.
