Default Blockbuster 2 for $25 Previewed BD Sale

First heard of this deal from seriousmill at DVD Talk.

It may not have started in all areas, but was active at 2 locations I went to today. I went to the Blockbuster on Kapiolani Boulevard and on Piikoi Street -- BOTH had the sale on. Kapiolani started the sale last week and the cashier said as far as he knows, it continues until the BDs are gone. (I presume he means the excess which they've pulled.)

*edit* Another poster at DVD Talk who works at Blockbuster said the sale starts next week. Perhaps some stores got a head start. Some posters at DVD Talk were told their sale starts 5/5, so it may depend on your store.

Titles will vary by location, of course. All came in Blu-Ray cases with cover art. (I understand from other posters that many Blockbusters receive their BDs in the different bigger case, but luckily not the case here. You might want to ask if they have BD cases you could swap for.) As is the custom at the local Blockbusters, however, they put a little label on the bottom of the clear plastic front cover and/or bottom of jacket cover. The label is about 1/2" x 2-1/2" and has the title, barcode, etc. The one on the clear plastic usually comes off easily; not so much the one on the jacket.

Last time I had looked, most BDs were preview-priced at $16.99. Now the regular price at some branches seems to be $14.99, and currently the sale price.

They were also selling some of the 2-pack titles (new) for $16.99, like Sweeney Todd/Sleepy Hollow, Mission Impossible I and II.

Nice work. I'm definitely going to check it out. I was thinking about the MI1 and MI2 when it was $21.99 at BB, so if my local BB has it for $16.99 I'll prolly jump on it. I've seen the movies themselves but not on blu, only on 720p. Gotta check out the reviews :-)

You're lucky you got the original blu cases, my local BB has the awful looking regular dvd cases, and said they are shipped to them that way, no empty blu cases laying around.

That's good to hear that the BB's in the US are having a sale like that.

In Canada the 2 for $30 deal just ended, but hopefully they have another because the BB I went to last night was loaded with PPV blu's.. as new as Marley & Me.

The only thing is they don't come with Digital Copies or DVD's.. the cover art was also modified because it didn't say it comes with them either (ie. Marley & Me). I'm not sure if it's the same in the US though.

This deal seems to be a no-go at the mainland Blockbusters. I tried my local store and the movies were still at the standard $16.99 price.

WTF!? I thought everything was supposed to be MORE expensive on the islands!? lol. My hopes are dashed a little but I'm still going to give it a shot later this afternoon.
