I wouldn't give up hope yet. As I mentioned, I heard about it from seriousmill at DVD Talk. I'm pretty sure he's on the mainland somewhere, though he doesn't state where.

Another poster at DVD Talk who works at Blockbuster said the sale starts next week. Maybe Hawaii got a head start.

Score!

EDIT: apparently my store is going out of business this is not a normal sale, it is a sell off lol....thats why they were all so low, just an FYI for people wondering why they were 9.99 and such.....lucky me

I'll have to check out other Blockbuster stores next week to see if the deal is going on.

I just checked the store off of Wadsworth in Littleton Colorado. No sale titles. All previously viewed Blu Rays were 16.99. When asked if a new sale will be starting Sunday they said their sales start on Tuesday Will try to check some more stores in the area if I get the chance.

I live in SLC and it was happening at all 3 of my blockbusters near me. But no titles worth purchasing, especially without cases. I could deal with the cases if I could $12.50 a flick. But alas, nothing special. And certainly not the titles originally listed.

I don't know about the 2 for $25 pre-viewed BD sales ...

but I stopped into my local Blockbuster last night about quarter to midnight to rent the BD of Quantum of Solace (sadly, it sucked) which I gave up trying to locate in my local Red Boxes and was SHOCKED to see they've totally changed there pricing scheme.

Now, all BD rentals (including new releases) are just $2 a day (one-day) with another $1 a day after that ... OR just $5 for up to 10 days.

DVD's are now only $1 a day.

Don't know if this is old news because I haven' been there in months (when I got a trial of BB online) but last time I checked high-def rentals were in the neighborhood of $6.

I think Blockbuster may have finally become relevant again for me. Too bad they'll probably be out of business soon.

Heads up that we apparently had a head start on the sale, but many posters at another forum are reporting the sale began in their area TODAY.

Sorry to quote myself, but I've changed my mind again. 1st: because I'm so out of habit going to the video store, I kept forgetting to return the stupid movie (even with driving past the store to and from work) and it wound up costing more than what it used to ... and 2nd: because they have copies of Sin City for sale ($30) but NONE for rent ... I guess Blockbuster isn't going to work for me after all.

Plus, no sign of a 2 for $25 sale.

My local stores have an incredible selection of used BRs, but the pricing sucks. Will swing by the stores today on the way home and see if I can score some decent stuff.

One word of warning. BB had an exclusive 1-Disc version of the Mist. The retail versions is a 2-Disc. The second disc had the B&W version of the movie on it (something I'd really like).

The stores in Aurora, Co all are doing the 2 for $25. Not much of a selection, though. The store on 6th and Chambers did have TDK. Some had The Ruins unrated. I just hadn't seen some of these movies so I wasn't sure if I should blind buy. I ended up blind buying a few DVDs, actually lol. Infernal Affairs $3.99, The Mist (1979) $1.99, Redbelt $3.99, Salvage $3.99. All blind buys for me except for The Mist
