Hmmm, this is tempting although I have never seen any of the sequels after the original. Are they any good? Any replay value?

They just get worse and worse. The original was, just that: An Original.
The makeup and budgets get cheaper and cheaper, and in High-Def it really shows.
Comcast is running them free on-demand and I couldn't make it through 2, 3, or 4, and this was while I was painting the walls downstairs. -

I own this boxset, and if you like science fiction, then you'll like this series. The first one is by far the best, as it gets a bit sketchy as the series progresses, but it's fun. The PQ and AQ are very good considering the age of the series.

I think I'll pass. The highdefdigest review indicates the average video quality is 3.5 out of 5 stars. Fox released this early in the bluray life cycle, I have a feeling a few years down the road they might make rerelease this with better video quality. I'll pass as it isn't a must have for me.

I like the first 2 and then they get pretty bad. However at that price thats what the first 2 cost so you cant really go wrong.
edit..... anyone have any hard info on the depth of this ? -

Glad I held out. I got to check 'em all out on MonstersHD when it was still around and was surprised by how good they looked, although I didn't watch some of the later sequels all the way through. I hope I don't end up regretting this....

Damnit, I just bought this for $88 from Amazon 2 and a half weeks ago. The same exact thing happened when they had the Die Hard set for cheap.

Thanks to those of you who went to Amazon via my blog link, much appreciated, Amazon slightly rewards me for it.
I've actually never watched the sequels either, haven't heard that they are that fantastic, although as someone mention above if you a big science fiction fan, especially of some of the older and cornier years in which these films were made then you should enjoy. And that's a steal of a price, I had a $25 rewards coupon from Amazon so the deal was a no brainer for me, somewhere around $32 shipped can't beat that.
Amazon may throw a bunch of crappy "deals" out there lately, but it seems patience truly is a virtue, finally a pretty excellent Blu-Ray deal.Check out my Movie Reviews:

I really like Planet of the Apes & the 1st sequel Beneath the Planet of the Apes but the rest are terrible IMO.

I got this set from the Borders sale last December. Awesome looking set....I don't even care that it doesn't have the separate cases. My favorite of the series is either Conquest of the Planet of the Apes or the original. My least favorite is probably Battle. I like them all though! I had a very good time re-watching them all not long ago.
