I knew that it was region free and that it has additional special features not on the US version. Have you seen the US version? Can you compare PQ and/or AQ between the two?

Unfortunately I have not seen the US version so I can't comment on the differences.

Sorry.

It's cool, thx. This thread is more for pricing info and region compatibility anyways. Just thought I'd ask. I'm almost certainly going to get it anyways.

Sorry guys I have not been in this thread since I decided to buy The Punisher. Yes, it is region free and works great on my US PS3. The audio is a step up with the DTHD track, but it does not blow you away. The UK PQ is MPEG-4/ AVC compared to the MPEG-2 US version. This site did give the PQ 4 1/2 stars on the US version, but the UK version I would say is about the same in the PQ department.

I would love to see Lionsgate re-release it with an 7.1 DTS-HD MA track.

The Island must've been pulled in the last couple days, because I updated the initial post on this thread a few days ago. I'm going to delete it off the list now.

I know. I checked during the weekend to see if they added something new and it was still listed. Maybe it sold better than expected.

I know! All I can say is that I had the strength to make it to the end. Didn't do my research before buying.

I was looking for a foreign movie... but not this kind of foreign movie!

But hey, "I've never seen it and will never see it again!"

Have you never seen Man on Fire on blu period? Or just not the UK version? Same question about The Punisher. I just watched my UK Man on Fire last night

I saw Man on Fire on DVD a while ago. I loved the movie, so I had to buy it in blu.
I saw The Punisher on TV a while ago, but it was an analog broadcast from a mexican TV station. It had an English SAP channel, so it was good to go. I can't say that I loved it, but I liked it enough to buy it in blu too.

So both are going to be "first seen on blu" for me.

Both blu-rays feature extras not available in their respective US releases and were not expensive, so the purchase was a no brainer for me.

First off I must say watch your Man on Fire UK BD! Also Punisher on Blu has a much better storyline than in an edited version on TV. I have the DVD and still bought the Blu. Rare double dip for me. I also even went through the trouble of selling my US BD of Man on Fire to buy the UK. Felt totally jipped on the lack of special features on the US BD.

I think the bigger question is: Why are you watching SAP broadcasts of analog broadcasts from Mexican TV stations? Say that 10X fast!
