I don't see other blu-ray box sets coming down in price a few months after they are released, at least not a big drop. I'm still waiting for the Matrix box set to come down as I am not willing to pay ~$75 right now. I've been waiting for the Bourne Trilogy and I've waited long enough. Some people are willing to wait longer, some don't. I guess that's the price I have to pay, pun intended.
It depends on the studio releasing the movie. The Bond box sets saw some serious price drops weeks after its release. Then again, they were released by a company that believes on making money on a franchise by re-releasing the films several times on the same format.

While I respect trying to get the best deal, I also have to agree with the person who replied to this. Most box sets have been the same price for months now, not to mention the fact that the Bourne set will go up after the sale is over. I managed to get the Pirates trilogy and the Mummy trilogy for $50 a piece over the holidays, but they were on sale and went right back up after the sale ended. Again, I can't fault you for waiting, but you may be waiting for quite a while. I will snap this up since my brother works there and I still have a gift card that I never used.

The fact is - This is a high profile box set and lately after the initial release there is a sharp decrease because the stores have a lot of stock from the distributor and have to liquidate this abundance of inventory. The Bond movies are a great example of this over the past 3 months. Spiderman movies also had a sharp decrease after a couple of months. While a slash will not be permanent, it will happen and I expect a $45 price-point minimum in the coming months - if only for a week or so. There's no reason to NOT wait, the movies are catalog titles. Add that with the fact I already own the HD DVD versions and it really is a moot point.

But all in all, there is the possibility there will be another Amazon B2G1 sale where you can stack multiple TV Show Seasons/Box Sets to make it cheaper too... which I imagine this will be part of in the summer time.

Why is the list price $120 on this set anyway? That's $40 per disk?

I don't doubt that they will go down in price eventually, but one of my points was actually that this won't likely be the price that they will be slashed from. $65 is a sale price. Do I still think they could have made them even cheaper? Sure, but Target's sale price is still much better than what most people thought (Amazon's current price). I'm still likely to get it with my gift card, but I still could think about it.

And to answer the post that was made right before I posted this.... The MSRP is $120, not $129.

Agree completely. I don't think Universal will sell as many of these box sets out of the gates as they intend to simply because ANYONE that has/had and HD DVD player had all 3 of these movies for real cheap, hell Supermacy most people got for free. There is little incentive to douple dip at the large MSRP or "sale prices" right now. I see this set being less than 49.99 very soon, within a couple months without a doubt.

I agree the current price is ridiculous. I'll be waiting till I can find the box for $45 or less. I'm in no rush either.

I will give Amazon 7 days from right now to drop the price. I am not risking a "Shipping Soon" game with them. I can wait a week or two for this if need be.

It used to be better when they had their price match guarantee. Although they do still have Pre-order price guarantee (right?)
It does not come out until the 27th so I don't think Amazon will be shipping it to you this weekend.

Oh, the target ad being 2 weeks early threw me.
They can and will ship it early. Even if it is just to market it as sent in the processing so it can't be canceled.

I'm still confused about Universal's charging $119.99 for the box set, when it doesn't match other Universal box set pricing.

In the fall, Universal released the Ultimate Comedy Collection which included 3 movies, one of which was a new release, FORGETTING SARAH MARSHALL. The retail price was $89.99, so vendors were selling it in the $50-$60 price range.

Now we have a set $30 more than the comedy set. What gives?

Does Target's price reflect the Universal MSRP?

The Bourne Trilogy and the Ultimate Comedy Collection really can't be compared. No offense to people who like the movies in that collection, but the Bourne movies hold more value. That is not to say I think the $119.99 MSRP is reasonable. $40 a piece for any movie is ridiculous, but luckily no retailer is going to charge that. As for Target's price reflecting that, I dunno.
