Default When do you think the next round of real bargains will come?

Hi folks,

Well, Christmas and Black Friday have come and gone .... there were some cool bargains, not as great as when HD DVD was still around, but nonetheless, there were some good moments.

Pickings have been really slim lately though, with respect to real bluray bargains.

So here's a simple question ... when do you think the next round of real bargains will come?

Maybe after financial year we might have a few stores getting rid of older stock or something. Just a guess.

My guess is that once the final forecasts for the fiscal year come about, they might jack out some good deals to try and boost the final revenues. Otherwise, maybe not until Easter or Memorial Day.

hell we haven't seen a B1G1 since HD DVD was still around, sales now are pathetic with new/big movies rarely going below $20

Holiday 08 was disappointing. Only great deal was the Bond/Fox movie deal. There were good deals and I bought plenty of movies...but it could have been so much more.

Just have to hope that holidays sales for Amazon and BB weren't good.

Amazon did pretty well holiday season compared to everyone else when reports came out. I don't think they're really gonna be rushing to have any more super sales anytime soon. It's sad. I know.

As soon as folks who pay the current ridiculous prices on new releases stop buying them.

I know it sucks that there are no sales, however NEW ealeases never go on sale anyway. It's always going to be the same titles because sales on Blu are meant to attract new customers. I don't remmeber DVD having B1G1 sales all year round either back in the day.

hopefully they look at the attachment rates of all the players that were just sold and figure out that people are not buying movies because they are just way too damn expensive

Around superbowl will be the next big push for hardware. HDTVS + BD players. Expect sales on media shortly after.

Yeah, Columbia House's B1G1 free has been the only real deals I've bought from lately (Can't wait for the next one). For the most part I've just been picking up some catalogue titles when I can get them for $15 or less.

I'm sure it's been mentioned (I just didn't see it) but Walmart has a small selection of $14.95 movies that most places have for $19.95 or more, all catalouge of course but I picked up Shrek the Third and they also have Top Gun along with most of the movies that you can get in the 2 packs (incase you are only interested in one of them). These were everyday prices and weren't in the main blu-ray section...they were on one side of an island on the main isle. Hopefully, they will start adding more catalogue titles.

Sony claims to have lost money last quarter, couldn't be on their BD players or movies as the prices were still at a premium. Don't expect blowouts from Walmart because their movies are serviced thru Anderson merchandise (3rd party). They say the time to shop for a tv is in April because of new models that come in, hopefully there'd be a BD tie-in somewhere.
