Columbia's isn't a real house considering what u have to buy back retail price. they've always setup shop like that. must buy X number of overpriced goods just so u can buy some cheap stuff. well if u tally everything and divided by the total # of discs u get at the end of the contract, u will come to find it's still not worth it. even B2G1 is worth i$.

the deals have pretty much ended. we'll not see B1G1 again cause there is no reason to hold one now.

Last year there were some good sales well after the "war" ended. I don't know who arranges these things (studios or stores) but there's usually some deals in Feb and early March. Last year, there were numerous B1G1 at retail in this timeperiod... and after the war was over. The sales were far reaching, usually studio specific... but had some incredible deals for retail at the time. Fred Meyers at a Sony B2G1. Target had a Disney B1G1. Best Buy had numerous weeks with a small selection of $14.99 Blu-rays... which at the time were the best advertised prices at retail for Blu titles.

We'll see how things work in this tough economy. I except something to help make Q1 sales happen... but not too soon after the holidays.

The next big sale is when they fire sale BD movies because Blu-ray is discontinued.

Really guys, it time to let B1G1 go. This weapon in the format war died last January when HD-DVD passed on. B1G1 should not be the benchmark used to set you expectations on BR bargains anymore. It's been a year. Time to let it go...

Given that we accept that, let's define our terms. What exactly is meant by "real bargains"? $15 per disc? $10 per disc? We can't speculate without knowing what we're talking about.

Ooooo.... that's a good question. After having been spoiled rotten by the HD DVD firesales and the B1G1 sales for bluray, I am always hopeful to get blurays for less than $10, but realistically, I think I would be comfortable with the $10 to $15 range.

The reason why I started this thread was because I am hoping to buy some newer releases but don't know how long I should hold out for them. Getting bluray titles like Kung Fu Panda for under $15 on black friday was a thrill. Now, do I hold out for some of the newer titles to finally hit $15 and under through sales, or do I shell out over $20 for them now, just because they are unlikely to drop to my comfort zone price range in the next 6 months ? That's my predicament.

Your thoughts would be appreciated, folks

Bargain = $10/disc.
Basic every day prices - around $15 per disc.
Outrageous "do not pay no matter what" prices = $20 and up.

New DVD releases go for over $20 as well.
You want Blu-rays to be cheaper than DVD's?
