Default $199 Sony BDP-S300 1080p Blu-ray Disc Player!!!!!

Amazon has the Sony BDP-S300 1080p Blu-ray Disc Player for $199.99. Good deal if you don't have a player already or want another for a cheap price.

Damn good deal, especially with the improvements the 4.20 firmware supposedly brought.

I owned an S300 for a while. And Profile 1.0 or not, this player is extremely well designed and built. I would rather own it at this price than any Funai-based player, even if they do hit $149 as rumored on Black Friday.

Wow, it will be very sweet if we get a $99 player on Black Friday or for the holidays! More people with Bluray means cheaper movies for all of us!!

Under $99 and closer to $50 is the most I'd spend on any Sony player.

Revolutionary,

I've had one of these players for quite some time. No problems so far. What's with the hate?

Id rather get the Samsung for the same price. Bitstream output is key in a stand alone player.

Not really slow. The 4.2 update has things like the Pirates of the Caribbean: Black Pearl (formerly taking about 2-3 minutes to lead) now at about 45 seconds to load.

I don't trust Samsung for firmware updates. Sony has always been there with firmware updates when needed. I will replace my S300 someday but for now it has been a very solid player.

I guess I'm spoiled by my PS3 because the load times people are discussing on the Amazon comments are completely unacceptable to me.

I could use a third player in the house, but I'm broke right now.
