I'm in a weird spot, too. I was planning on not renewing my prime which expires in late September since most of my orders are big orders and I'm patient enough to never choose one-day, anyway. I noticed recently, how I've been snagging deals from other online places. I think it'll be hard for me to shop at Amazon religiously and purchase an item and then it drops and I can't do anything about it. One order that I won't cancel is a ps3 game pre-order because I doubt that would drop in price, anytime soon.
I want to at least say thank you all so much. I never knew of that feature on Amazon's site and shopped their for two years, completely unaware. That is why it would be hard for me to do that again knowing how much I saved. Just from Ruvic's posts and other members, too. In the end, I'll at least be saving a lot more money since they decided to go this route. Back to the topic, I hope we can figure out if the pre-orders are going to be safe. But it does cover, regular orders placed before September, right? I might get a few bones back then. ![]() |

I won't stop buying from Amazon until they figure out what I'm doing to get $10-15 off EVERY Blu-ray Disc.

I just literally got off the phone with an Amazon representative named Chris who informed me that pre-orders are safe since the order was placed before September. Today might be the day for a lot of people on here.

So ANYTHING bought before September 1st WILL still have the 30 post order guarantee? Say I bought a TV today and in 10 days it drops $100. Will I get that money back can anyone confirm this for me?

My guess is they were taking a bath with all the refunds. But it is why I bought so many disks from them.
Gee lets see in the last 6 months, NYS made them add tax, the 10% discount for early adaptors, and now price matching gone. They are really fighting for my business ![]()

That is how Chris explained it to me. I pre-ordered a few items that I was iffy on because of what he said. If it turns out not to be true, I'll cancel them and be really picky about the price of an item.

Here is the Amazon response:
Hello from Amazon.com. Thanks for contacting us about our postorder price guarantee. As of September 1, 2008 we are no longer offering discounts if prices change on our website after you make a purchase. Please know that only orders placed before September 1, 2008 are eligible for a price difference refund under the Post-Order Price Guarantee policy. If your order was placed before September 01, 2008, and if you see another price change on our website for an item in your order within 30 days from the shipment date, please visit this link to request a refund: https://www.amazon.com/gp/help/conta...ay-and-gc.html I hope this information clarifies any misunderstanding. Thank you for shopping at Amazon.com--we hope you'll visit us again soon. Please let us know if this e-mail resolved your question: |

A post purchase price protection is really a short cut to buy a new and return on the old costlier receipt during the reund period Amazon is taking advantage of people not wanting to ship back items |

I'm sure Amazon is changing this policy because they are taking a bath on price refunds, as previously stated. The price adjustment policy combined with free super saver shipping on orders over $25, increasing fuel prices, and a weakening economy in general their profits have to be razor thin, if they are in the black at all anymore. Do I like this new policy? Heck no! I saved a TON of money on price adjustments over the last few years, but think of it this way : They are a BUSINESS, they are in business to make money. Companies make policy changes like this not to make more money, but to keep themselves afloat. I wouldn't be surprised at all if they get rid of free super saver shipping by the end of the holiday season too.

Oh well. They still with drop your price on pre-orders before it comes out. And they usually have the best prices anyway. No other site does post order price refunds and considering amazon is usually cheaper to stat with they're still #1 in my book.
Besides I'm smart enough to wait for sales to buy my titles anyway. If you're constantly going back and requesting refunds you clearly are buying the movies at the wrong time in the first place.

What they should have done was made the process automated for customers via a special form. This would reduce the need for excessive support resource utilization by having users call or email, which costs the company money. Especially when people would proudly say they called 10x to net that $.50 refund. I've even joked with the reps about never calling in for low amounts and most would say I wouldn't believe the number of people that do. I remember on this site, someone called several times to secure a $1 refund for a BD movie. I just don't think $1 is worth all that effort and it probably isn't for Amazon.com either.
Also issuing refunds to credit cards is costly, so this was surely another factor. I always thought they should have issued a store credit for a future purchase instead as this keeps the money in-house, encourages a future purchase and can reduce operational costs. |
