Default DVD Planet BUY ONE GET ONE FREE blu-ray sale?

Hi All!

I'm new to this board but I have to say that this website and forum is filled with plenty of great information. I wanted to share this information I just stumbled upon today.

I recently visited DVD Planet's website and rolled my pointer over the blu-ray logo on the right hand column and a message popped up that says BUY ONE GET ONE FREE!. I tried to get more information about this sale but there wasn't any more information on their website. I called their (800) 818-9693 to ask about their sale and they told me that ALL blu-rays including those for pre-order were on sale. However, when I tried to place an order on their website and went to check out I couldn't get the order to recalculate to the sale prices. So I called again and spoke to someone different and he told me that it should recalculate to the sale price but told me that he would be willing to take my order over the phone to ensure that I received the adjusted prices.

I wanted to find out if anyone has tried to order from them especially with their prices which seem very reasonable. If I don't get the website order form to work I will call and place a phone order. By the way I asked when the sale would end and they couldn't tell me or didn't know. Either way I thought that this would be a great time to buy and pre-order from them. It has been a long time time since I ordered from them and I seem to recall their shipping costs are not too bad but you have to pay sales tax if you ship to California.

Any information about this supplier and this blu-ray sale would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Sorry, but I don't see any BOGO deal mention on the site. Where did you go?

I saw what he was talking about. When I pulled up a site and the side was loading it said Buy 1 Get 1 Free where the Blu-ray banner was but nothing happened when I added movies to my cart.

I see the same thing...

If you use IE (doesn't do it with Firefox), load DVD Planets main page. Mouse over the big Blu-ray graphic on the right, and the text that appears above the image says BOGO!

Like you, it doesn't give the discount...

They have twp stores in CA and their warehouse is located in IL, with their sister company Deepdiscount.com, which has a store at that location. Their site is pretty good with their Frequent Buyer Points program ($5 for every $250 in purchases) and DVD/BluRay Trade-in program where you get store credit.

They have monthly coupon codes that are posted in a thread on DVDtalk.com found here:

http://forum.dvdtalk.com/showthread.php?t=502152

Codes for August are:

AUG52008 - $5 Off $60
AUG10 - $10 Off $120
AUG15 - $15 Off $175

Cashbaq.com also has a 4% cashback program with them, and live.com has one for 8% with Deepdiscount.

Along with Deepdiscount they have 20% off sales in June and November.

---

As for purchasing, I haven't had any problems with them. I usually wait to buy stuff during their 20% off sales, or when they have a good Blu Ray sale.

I don't know about the B1G1 Blu Ray sale, but the Blu Ray banner does have the ALT text pop up saying "BUY ONE GET ONE FREE!". However, when I try to checkout with 2 Blu Ray titles there is NO discount.

Usually when they have a sale like this, they'll design a special page and/or have a specific banner that states "BUY ONE GET ONE FREE".

This would be an excellent deal if it actually works. Though, they don't have alot of the newer preorders like Ironman, Kung fu Panda, or The strangers.

Most sales are for in-stock titles only, not pre-orders. It would be great, if it works.

Thats why I said "IF". I go to the site (which is poorly designed), I get a bad impression and dont see the "sale". My apologies if I offended you.

Thanks for those that viewed DVD Planet's website and found the sale logo. Kind of weird that it is hidden and not widely publicized.

As mentioned in my earlier post I did try to find out what I needed to do to place an order which would properly calculate the discount before submitting my payment. When I called their 800 number the person on the other end couldn't understand why I wasn't able to recalculate the total before submitting an order. Then I was asked if I placed an order in which they were willing to make the correct price adjustments and refund me if neccessary. When I informed them that I hadn't place an order, he invited me to place the order over the phone and would give me the correct sale pricing. I still think this is a legitimate sale but wanted to check with others to see if anyone else had seen the pop up with the BOGO. I live near one of their stores and called to ask the clerk about the sale which of course they weren't able to see the BOGO on their browser which may be the reason that only some can see it (I do use Internet Explorer).

Well, I may call in an order tomorrow and make sure that I receive the BOGO pricing since they do seem to have decent pricing on their website (their store pricing is slightly higher and they do not offer any sales posted on their website. The are a pretty good retail store and a few weeks back they had a CRITERION Dvd sale which was also a buy one and get one free on every title in stock. I tell you I spent a great deal of money that week.

Hope that we can take advantage of these prices while they last. Thanks again to all those that checked and discovered the same pop up sale logo.

Yeah, I checked with IE instead of firefox. If you hover over the blu ray icon to the right it DOES say "buy one get one free". Hot damn.

Hmmm...I think I'd bought some adult DVDs from this site seven or eight years ago. We can also pay through paypal to control the risk.
I'll try to place an order tonight.
