Default How often does Amazon have BOGO sales?

I started buying HD movies about 6 weeks ago from Amazon, and with all the BOGOs I ended up getting about 30 movies in that 6 weeks. Now, I don't want to buy any movies unless they are part of a BOGO. To anyone who has been shopping for HD movies since January 2007, does Amazon have those on a regular basis throughout the year or were all the BOGO sales the last 6 weeks just a holiday thing? Thanks.

I've seen at least 3...not including the Disney sale, which was just a sale, not a BOGO. Only took advantage of one though. It should be said that much of the same titles carried over, they just expanded the selection each time. For instance, I never saw Simpsons or Superbad on any BOGO, but 300 and Prestige and earlier movies on BR have always been there.

I guess my question is going forward, should I expect to see BOGOs in the coming months on Amazon. The best indicator would be if Amazon did BOGOs last year between say February and May. Anyone know?

i've only participated in this holiday BOGO but I imagine they would be quarterly until one format is the clear undisputed winner and the other pulls out of the market. They only do the BOGO to increase sales numbers/revenue to help backers choose the best format for the future.

Im pretty sure with the Blu-ray momentum were going to see less and less blu-ray bogos...but probably more sales. Such as $19.99-$24.99 for new releases or slightly older releases. But since HD-DVD and Blu-ray arent at war anymore (well not really) BOGOS to prop up sales are not needed.

It sounds like the original poster wants to know if there were Amazon bogos last year between Feb and May. I'd like to know also.

No they really started to happen when paramount switched to HDDUD but now that warner is blu, expect there to be a lot of HDDUD bogo, and maybe a few blu BOGO sales until the war is officially over and universal and paramount come to their senses...

I have both formats so I'm hoping the "war" continues as long as it possibly can. If Blu-Ray wins it all, forget BOGO's all together. The HD-DVD backers need to start pulling out some classic films here to try a revive this, I think it's time Gladiator & Back To The Future got released.

Fry's started having Blu-ray BOGO's at the end of October with Disney titles. Although, when you went to the register, you actually just got those titles for half price. You really did not need to buy 1 to get 1 free. At one point, I bought three titles and got all three at half off.

The Fry's BOGOs ran fairly continuous from the end of October to the end of the year with the last one being a group of Fox titles that were on the BOGO from Thanksgiving pretty much to the end of the year. Again, these were blu-ray. I do not remember seeing any hd-dvd BOGOs at Fry's during that period.

In addition, Amazon seemed to be running a new BOGO every week during that same two month period, November and December. The Amazon BOGOs jumped around with different blu-ray titles from week to week. They also had, I believe, at least one hd-dvd BOGO in December that seemed to last about a week or so.

There were announcements of other isolated BOGOs during this same period but it seemed to me that Fry's and Amazon were the most aggressive with them.

Sadly, it is very quiet right now. I hope that the BOGOs I noted above were not just holiday sales and we are going to see some new ones again soon. I also hope that the slow down in BOGOs is not due to retailers pulling back after the Warner announcement, thinking that they can back off on the aggressive moves to get more people on to the format. Only time will tell.
