Default Nothing Like 5 Free $34.99 Blu-Ray's to Make New Year's Eve Better!

I just bought the BD-30 on Friday night and of course found out about the 10 Blu-Ray deal at BB yesterday. So, of course, I'm over there today to get my free 5 in store titles that I would have gotten if I had waited 2 more friggin' days.
It was a bit of a struggle, but thankfully common sense prevailed in the end. I got to choose my 5 Blu-Ray's and made sure they were all $34.99 titles. (which I ONLY will pay on a VERY LIMITED number of movies EVER)
Anyway, I got "Castaway", "Rescue Dawn", "Simpsons Movie", "Kingdom of Heaven", and "Ice Age: The Meltdown."
Not a bad New Year's Eve haul if I do say so myself
and I threw in "the Rat" on sale for good measure
I am very psyched!!!!!

This is the kind of thread that's about getting free items WITHOUT screwing over a store, unlike most. Ark, good haul, smart thinking only getting the high $ titles.

Thanks!! Yeah I got kind of lucky to have the deal come out yeterday.
I am very happy for sure given how much $$ I had to drop to get the player. This REALLY makes me feel a lot better about it for sure!!

Congrats, Arkadin. That's one of the reasons I don't like doing with Best Buy. They make everything so difficult if you try to return anything or get something you are entitled to. I was in two different Best Buys yesterday and you can't even tell they have a sale on the Panasonic in that deal. It's nowhere to be seen. However, Costco has it now for $449, and I love Costco for their return policy, plus you get a free HDMI cable rightin the box.

By the way, when you play "Ratatouille", try the "Cine-Explore" feature in the disc's menu. I think it was incredibly well-done. Let me know what you think.

If you ever are in the situation where you bought something and soon after it goes on sale/comes with free stuff and the store won't honor the deal (especially if you are well within the regular return policy) it's a real simple fix. Go get another of the same item, and any said free stuff, go to a till and purchase it. Then walk straight over to the customer service/returns and present that unit - minus the free stuff in this case - with the old receipt. They have no cause to refuse your return. I've done this 3 times at Walmart because they didn't want to honor their price-drop, even a month after purchase. If the store won't take the return you get the store number and regional phone number and then go to another store with just the old receipt and new item and return it there. Report the store you were at. The customer is always right, no matter what the retailer wants to say. If they aren't going to honor their prices (and they have to by law) then report them and stick it to them :P

Spitfire, agreed, however, some stores will not give credit on an item bought at full price if the item has gone on sale since then, which is absolute bullshit and probably illegal.

I've done this method before. I was gonna do it about my Factory Girl dvd that wouldn't work, but ya know......sometimes one must take it in the shorts

So did you just look for high priced movies instead of movies you really wanted?

If so....umm...way to go?

Yeah, I try to maximize my value with deals like this, too. Even with the "Buy 3, Get 2" offer I'll try to get more expensive titles that I want.

Of course, eventually a lot of these will be in a bargain bin for $5 somewhere. It's all relative.
