BDA renews "Five Free Discs" offer
We all knew this was coming, but the BDA officially announced it Tuesday:
The Blu-ray Disc Association has renewed its "Five Free Discs" offer through the holidays, refreshing the list of available Blu-ray titles.
The terms of the renewed program mirror those of the one that expired on September 30. Consumers who purchase any qualifying Blu-ray player (including the PlayStation 3) will automatically qualify to receive five free Blu-ray movies via a mail-in offer.
The 18 titles offered this time around are: Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl, Wild Hogs, American Psycho, Chain Reaction, The Devil's Rejects, Flight of the Phoenix, Full Metal Jacket, Hart's War, The Last Waltz, Omen 666, The Patriot, The Prestige, Species, Stir of Echoes, Superman: The Movie, SWAT, Swordfish and Ultraviolet.
Full details on the promotion can be found at the website www.bluraysavings.com. -

And some of the worst transfers on Blu-ray are on the list. But also some of the strongest.

I am brand new to the neutral game. Just ordered the PS3. I also picked up both Pirates in the deal for the PS3. I know I will be picking The Prestige for sure off this list, but I don't know alot about the others. My initial thoughts are this:
The Prestige
Superman: The Movie
American Psycho
The Patriot
Chain Reaction
I have The Patriot Superbit though, so I don't know. What are some of the horrendous movies and transfers to avoid? You guys would know alot more than me, as I am coming from HD DVD only and haven't looked at alot of BD's until now.
PS. The only high def music disc I have now is The Eagles. Is The Last Waltz any good? Movie itself and transfer?
Thanks,

Right at the wire
I got in on the very last day of the last five movie deal, which in my opinion had more films that I cared about...it would be hard to pick five movies from this selection....the only one I know I'd want is the Pirates, but I just bought it on SD like four or five months ago, and while it might be a nice upgrade, I'd want something I don't already have...

Does anyone have a link or a copy of the old order form for the 5 free movies? I noticed on the old offer you have until October 30th to send it in. I qualify for the old offer but not the new one...but can't find an order form. Thanks!

Question about last 5 free deal
I bought a PS3 during the last deal, and was wondering if I select the blu-ray movies from paramount, will i get them. I thought I read somewhere, possibly here, that paramount got rid (discarded) of all there blu-ray movies.

I just bought a PS3 to go with my A2, and I have to say, after the first tier of the offer the quality of titles goes down sharply. I struggled to find movies I actually would want to watch, and ultimately based my choices on current resale value on eBay. It seems a person with tastes nearly opposite of mine was solely responsible for coming up with this list.
