Default Barnes and Noble Criterion 50% off sale

No, I'm sorry to say I am not reporting it. I know nothing about when it will happen, just that we are all hoping it will happen soon.

Does anyone know anything more than just that it should happen next month? How soon in advance do you think we'll find out? Has it always been a 50% off sale? How many years back have they done it? Will it be for the entire month? In the past has it started on the 1st of the month? (Basically just hoping that it is still a sure thing!)

I have $350 in Barnes and Noble gift cards that have been burning a hole in my pocket for the past three months for this sole purpose!

Last year the summer sale started mid-July (12th) and ran for a couple weeks. The fall sale started at the tail end of October (31st?) and ran a few weeks into November.

IIRC, this would be the 4th year for the sales. I think last year was the first time Amazon started price matching B&N during the sales.

Thanks man! I did some digging and saw a consensus that if it does happen it will start on the 10th of July, but there are some folks who think it might not happen this year. I hope the naysayers are wrong!

    Default B&N Criterion Blu-ray 50% off sale runs July 10th - July 30th

Today I confirmed with a video clerk at B&N that the sale will run Tues. July 10th through Mon. July 30th. He said they had been shipped extra copies of various titles to prepare for the sale.

Deep Discount used to do some good sales on Criterion too. Now their sales are horrible all around.

Here's a coupon code I found for 15% off one item that supposedly is valid July 11 when you use a Visa card:

i'm actually sitting this one out, discount card be damned. 100 just won't cut it. i need 4-5 benjis, otherwise deciding WHAT i want is too much of a pain.

The plan for me is Being John Malkovich, Shallow Grave, Down By Law, La Heine, and Certified Copy. All blind buys, which makes it more fun. :big grin:

Since I have to wait till the 17th for Down By Law, I may just throw in Harold and Maude on that order to get free shipping.

Pre-orders only work if they are items to be released during the sale period. So if the sale lasts until Aug 14th, yes, otherwise no.

As much as I want to support a company like Criterion for what they're doing, I still don't see any titles from them I really want. Even so, 50 percent off at B&N still equates to what price wise?

B&N sells Criterion at MSRP, which is typically $39.99. So look for most to be $20.
