Free Blu-ray rentals for a week at some public libraries nationwide

I stopped into my local public library since I have not been there for several years. They had hundred’s of audio CD’s and DVD’s available. Plus they had some Blu-ray’s available that people could checkout for 7 days for free. They contained mostly family movies like Disney movies and some nature movies. Some libraries around the nation also have R rated action movies. More and more libraries are getting Blu-ray discs. The Librarian told me that they use to have a lot more Blu-ray discs available but they are having problems with people not returning them. They keep the Blu-ray’s up front next to the main security camera since they are a high theft item.

Also local Churches around the nation that have video libraries are starting to stock Christian Blu-ray’s for their church members to check out for free.

This is good to see Blu-ray’s becoming available at peoples local Church libraries and public libraries. People end up either watching the Blu-rays at home or inside the library in a dedicated video room.

I work for the Phoenix Library System and we have randomly been getting Blurays. They have all been part of combo packs. I would say we have about 20 (titles) of them.

I also work for the library system in my city and we installed a few dvd kiosks at a couple of locations. I asked our tech guys about Blu-rays and they said that they hope have them in place within two years.

    They're coming.

considering the supposed indestructibility of blurays I think that they would be a good purchase for libraries. I look at the ones that come in and I have only seen one tiny scratch on any of them.
