Note: About the same price as on release ($79.99), but if you missed it then and can get past GL's incessant tinkering, then this might be a deal for you.Last edited by Wolvie; 05-04-2012 at 10:54 AM.

For some reason, I just still feel like that price is too high. I'd consider $60 pretty thoroughly and would likely make a purchase at that price - but I can't justify $80.

I almost bit on this this morning when I saw it, but I held back. Same thought as you - I still think its a little to high for basically 3 old movies. I mean, sure, you are getting six in total, but only 3 really matter.
I'm sticking with my original plan of buying it from one of the many retailers who will be offering it up for pennies on the dollar come black friday. I'm that patient. -

I got the original trilogy at Toys R Us release day for $30. They had both sets for $30 each. Just couldn't bring myself to pay $30 for the prequels though. I imagine they will hit 3D Blu with the rerereleases they have been doing. But even then, can't really justify more than $15 for each flick of the prequels. And that is only for 3D versions. When I can get the prequel set for $20 or less is when I will bite on them.

This set has kept its value pretty well. The cheapest was a few months back at Go Hastings deal for around $40 + used.
Probably be a new set in a few months for the 3d edition, will they discontinue this one or not (discount it?) will be the question. -

Not $80 imho. While the original 3 are almost biblical to some of the people on this board, they're just entertaining old movies in the end. These movies have been released, rereleased, and re-re-released in several formats with well over a dozen editions. The prequels were 'ok' but nothing I'm dying to have in my collection.
As I said, I think I'd probably consider a buy at $60.Currently Playing: Uncharted 3, Zelda: Skyward Sword

Agree, $60 is a better value...and only because of the 3 extra discs included only in this complete set.
If this set included the ORIGINAL unedited editions, $80 would be a fair price. Imagine the spike in sales, not to mention the warm reception, that would receive. It's incredulous to me that Lucas continues to ignore his most ardent fans. -

Yeah I get that, and I think a lot of people agree with you. However, I do realize that those 3 prequels were hollywood blockbuster films and they're definitely going to charge for the set as 6 total films. For people that share your opinion, as many do, there is the set of just the original trilogy.
I don't expect $40 anytime soon (maybe a black friday half off), but $80 as a sale price is inappropriate, and $60 seems to probably be the sweet spot.Currently Playing: Uncharted 3, Zelda: Skyward Sword
