Thumbs down This player is already obsolete

Too bad the S300 is garbage. It isn't even BD profile 1.1 compliant, so extras written for 1.1 on future Blu-ray titles won't even work. I'll stick with HD DVD.

Its says its not Profile 1.1 compliant in its manual. Only thing you want be able to play BD-J wise is PiP.

At least you didn't waste too much money Well in all seriousness I would think hd-dvd would be doing rapidly better if you can find deals like that but its not.

Can you feel the cold hand of death, HD-DVD?
There are lots of reasons HD-DVD might die, but 7 free loser movies aren't it. Is there anyone who actually would buy any of these free movies?

You would think that, with all the great movies available on bluray, they could maybe find a few to put in their promotion. But no. Say what you want about HD DVD, but their 5-movie choice at least has a few titles worth having.

Its strange but my local Wal-marts are not offering this deal. May be a regional thing.

Open season would be a welcome addition, Gridiron Gang was alright as well, and of the 5 free BDA movies - thanks for Pearl Harbor, but no thanks to the other 24 titles to choose from. I printed the list the other night to mail in with my PS3 over the next few weeks, and I had trouble finding moveis I wanted - for FREE. Just because they're free, doesn't mean they're worth buying the player for ...

My local wal-mart does not even carry bd players (except the PS3) and both hd and blu titles are barely on the shelves. It may be a regional type thing because I went to another wal-mart a little farther and they had plenty of titles and a couple of players from Sony.

I didn't have a chance to read through the posts, but you may want to add that the same player is available at Costco for $450 (making it the cheapest on the market for Blu-Ray).

We have Four Wal-marts in the Grand Rapids area. The one closest to me only has like five HD DVD titles one Blu-ray title (Xmen 3) that is locked in the case with the PS3 games. The one on the south west side of town has a Blu-ray display with Dinosaurs playing but only have HD DVDs for sale. Then the one on the south east side have HD DVD and Blu-ray for sale but it doesn't have this deal noted here. I think Wal-mart may be confused with the new High Def formats.
