@Cochise

Same as Crazzeto, I'll give Disney a pass on this because they really do need to protect their name with kids. They are targetting alot of thier advertising of this feature at kids and putting it onto their kid friendly movies..........So if they need me to jump through a few more hoops than other film studios may then I think its worth it to help keep kids safe.

For the personall information the only thing they needed from me was the last 4 of my SSN which isnt something I am too woried about somebody getting off their database since its a very common thing to be asked for for ID. (bank and telephone bill pay ask me for this all the time to prove ID)

I do wish they would lighten up a little on their username restrictions but even that is understandable given that its Disney.

i'm up for giving it a shot, just signed up on the disney site.

My temp screenname is: Guest 41587 and it said it should be updated to Apollo26 in a few days...feel free to add me.

Is the movie chat text only?? or do we use mics too? Either way it should be pretty interesting.

It is text only, as of Halloween only text entry with a remote was supported however Disney had already annouced their intentions to implement a "external text entry device" like your laptop or cell phone. Maybe that will be working by then.

Movie Night #2 Dark Knight

Friday December 19th.

I actually didn't participate in the Harry Potter one so I'm not sure what all needs to be done to get it working. Maybe someone that did participate in that movie night can post detailed instructions, but I'm pretty sure it can't be any harder than disney's system.

I'm in for that one - you're talking about starting time of 10PM East Coast time? That's 8PM Mountain time, perfect for me.

Geonosis hosted the Harry Potter one. If TDK works the same way:
- You register your screen name, First & last real name, gender & DOB at Warner, either via the web or the player. Nothing is verified except maybe a confirm email.
You add people as friends who have already registered and sent you their screen name.
- One person is the "host", schedules a screening, and sends invites to his friends. On the disc, when you go into the BD live section you'll see the invite, accept the invite, and the screening will be scheduled.
- A few minutes before the scheduled screening, start up the disc & go into BD Live and the movie will start when scheduled. The host controls the playback; if he pauses the movie or skips back a chapter, yours will too. You text back & forth either using a virtual keyboard you access with your toggle & enter buttons or, much more convenient, log into your account at warnerbrothers.com with a PC, laptop or blackberry or such and use that device's KB - much more convenient, I used my laptop. The movie plays in OAR, the text messages appear in the black bar at the top and your text box is in the bottom bar. There's also a list of pre made messages you can select from a list.

EDIT: I think we had 15-20 members participating in the Harry Potter CS. When you send messages, you can select to send them to everyone participating, or individuals.

It can be a lot of fun, some of the comments from the guys from the HD DVD forum for the Harry Potter movie cracked me up. And I wasn't a big HP fan, so I learned alot more about the characters from the others. Folks who didn't see TDK at the theaters, like me, can probably get a lot of insight from those who did.

All times are Eastern Standard since well... That's where I live, as well as dave.

Edit
Do you have a link to the website cochise? That way we can get a jump on the registration process. Of course I'm assuming they're just building this all on the HD DVD implementation, but that is a safe bet.

No. The HD DVD account is at:
http://hddvd.warnerbros.com

I tried bd, bdlive & blu-ray to replace the hddvd in front of .warnerbros.com and nothing came up. So it's not up yet or they're going to set it up somewhere else.

Thumbs up

Thanks for organizing this Crazzeto!
I don't think I will be able to attend the Wall-E night... which is too bad because I have the movie.

I will definitely attend the Dark Knight viewing though.

Ok, thanks for that. I guess we dont' know if it will directly carry over yet or not but I am still assuming so. I've gone ahead and registered, same UN as my HDD (also put it in my sig).
