Default Warner launching BD-Live Titles for the Holidays

Warner is preparing to launch its first BD-Live-enabled Blu-ray titles in time for the Winter holidays, the company revealed at a press event held this past Friday.

What does everyone think of this feature in terms of buying decisions?

The value of online features are not so impressive to me anymore, and I wont buy a title for BD-Live alone. Although I hope they get some great features for "Get Smart" this Christmas .

i don't do bd-live features. the only features that interest me are triv tracks (when not absolute wasteful piles of repetitive crap, that is), commentaries, and sometimes deleted scenes.

so....i really could care less, personally.

Not surprised since WB really pushed online during the beginning with Disney. I would like to see more movies with the Live Community Screening feature, Speed Racer would have been a nice movie but that comes in Sept so probably no Live content. TDK will have Live, which will be great. So now all six majors are supporting BD-Live, very good news.

Don'r care about BD-Live. I want good transfers with lossless audio and high-def extras.

Biggest draw to me. I've started my hunt for a Blu-ray player to go along with my HD DVD player. Looks like it'll probably happen around Christmas.

Interactive features are my #1 priority. It's somewhat disappointing to see that there appears to be no major push from the Blu-ray group to improve upon special features.

Lightbulb BD-Live, no thanks.

BD-LIVE just another reason to raise the already crazy (on some title) prices?! Over $35.00 for a single is about what I would pay $40+ no way.

Not interested in the "LIVE" . If I wanted to watch extra trailers or play games or other crap like that I would go on-line.

I buy for 2 reason and that is GREAT Video and Great Sound. PERIOD.

Count me in with the 'i just want great sound and great picture' crowd. if you want to wow me, make more discs with features like Heroes HD DVD and 300 HD DVD. I don't want to join a chat with my Blu-Ray.

Ok, when the "war" was going on, I said I didn't think I would use this feature much.

If you have extras for the movie - put them on the disc, don't make me visit a website to get it.

I don't need a link to view trailers or see advertisements for your other products.

Here is a serious question:
  • For those of you who had the "community viewing" (used on a few HD DVDs) - did you (or the host) pause the movie to discuss topics about the movie?
  • Did you text or "chat"?
  • What were some of the things you discussed.

Again, this isn't some kind of smackdown, I don't envision myself watching a movie with strangers and having them stop the movie to throw out a question. And unless you have a chat device (blu-tooth for the PS3 users) - I imagine texting would get annoying. I'd be interested in hearing about people who used this function for HD DVD.

Thanks,

I've always seen online content as gimmicky. You're telling me that 3 years from now I'll be able to pop in my copy of Dark Knight and find people online to chat with.

I want to see creative online content that will actually mean something several years from now, and not just become a dead link.

If the BD version of the recently released The Bucket List had online community features then it would be a great way for the community created as a result of BD-live to announce the funerals of the members.

I would not be interested in learning of the death's of people I don't know.

Of all the functions I want my BD player to do - a live obituary is not one of them.

I tried BDLive with the Men in Black disc and thought it was horrible. Took forever to load and wasn't worth the wait once it did load. For a piece of hardware that's got built in WiFi (PS3) this sure didn't take advantage of the speed of my network. For as long as it took to load, it sure as hell didn't look like it needed to take that long.
