Supposedly, this new 'I, Robot' disc is intended as a show-off piece for JVC's new 3D conversion technology. I'd hope that means it's better than average for a 3D conversion.

Yes, the "Sonny Head" DVD set. That was my first thought as well, that somebody dusted off the mold for that box set and is reusing it here.

Correct! I forgot about those! Still a rare occurence, because you'd think they want to at least earn back the cost of the conversion (which worked big time for The Lion King & Titanic, less so for Beauty and the Beast).

However, reports are that these are quickie 3D conversions on par with doing it in real-time in a TV.
I found a thread on another forum about these 3D German exclusives. Not sure what the rules about linking to other forums are though. I found it with a simple google search.

Pre-order up(for 24 hrs only) for the supposed "Limited Edition" head @ FoxConnect.

Would like to own this, but too many other sets coming out in Sept/Oct on my radar.

It was released in the UK/Europe too. I have had that head for years. Guess they had a few left over, since it didn't sell too good.

I'll buy the BD, if it gets good reviews on the 3D part, but the head i'll never buy again. It's good quality, but don't need two of them.

Just go to Amazon.de and search blu-ray 3D, and everything comes up. They have titles like Valhalla Rising, and tons of 3D porn.

39.99 for this, are you kidding me? That is by far the funniest thing i have seen in quite some time. It needs to come back down to earth before it is released, especially when the non 3d version is around $10.

So, yeah, went to Wal-Mart to see if they'd beat Worst Buy on Avatar 3D's price (don't ask), and guess what I found?

I, Robot 3D is on sale NOW at Wal-Mart (YMMV!) for 29.99. This is a 2D/3D combo on one disc, plus DVD. Includes lenticular crapcover. I found this title in the catalog section (the alpha sorted one with four sides) AND in the new release sidecap.

Hoping to get a new cult for Christmas. Already tired of playing with the last one.

I have heard multiple ppl reporting finding it at their WM today also. Frys.com has it for 19.99 w/ free shipping(no in-store option for those w/ a Fry's).

I placed an order for I, Robot and Avatar during a recent DVD Empire sale($21.5x ea.).

Damn....I am going to have to check out Wal-mart this weekend. Thanks for the intel.

I watched a clip of I, Robot 3D on the Prometheus 3D disc. From what I saw, I was very impressed with the conversion.

I am both excited and apprehensive of this release, especially after being disappointed in the Avengers conversion. I wouldn't put a lot of stock in the previews though, and here's why I say that: Look at the previews of gulliver's travels on some of the 3D blu-ray releases. They make the movie appear to have quite a bit of depth, make it look more impressive. When you actually pop Gulliver's travels 3D in the player, it's a different story: there is no depth at all in the movie. It's just seems like one image copied and aligned to the other eye.

Also check out the previews of spider-man and mib III on the underworld 3D blu-ray. Spider-man, which is suppose to be filmed in 3D, has no depth on that preview, while MIB III, which is a conversion, has a huge amount of depth, more so than even Underworld 3D. The truth is that you never know what you're going to get from the previews.
