Let's try this. How many of those 3D TVs will actually be hooked up to a 3D source? It's becoming impossible to find a medium to high end HDTV that isn't also 3D ready so the number of such sets shipped isn't a completely reliable indicator.

(Remember that it is estimated that 40% of HDTVs are NOT used to watch HD. They're bought because it's all that is now available).

As long as glasses are involved, 3D will NEVER have mass adoption. 3D is a trend that (once again) is starting to slow. Just do a quick search, "3D ticket sales declining". You'll come across numerous stories on this. When you have 2D ticket sales beating up 3D ticket sales for Kung Fu Panda 2, it's not good.

Yes, 3D sets have come down in price, and I would imagine some are buying in at these prices to have the feature, rather than not to. Just look at all those who have purchased an HDTV over the years, and dont have an HD signal coming into their house. I know several people that have done this, in addition to some who never even engaged their DVD player's progressive scan feature to the on position, just to get a 480p signal.

One other thing... Thank you again Christopher Nolan for taking a pass on 3D with your next Batman film.
