3D Movies Are Coming to the 3DS
Nintendo's new handheld will give you glasses-free 3D movies.
You can find this and more info at Nintendo's official site.

I wish it wasn't that small.
If the screen size was more along the lines of the DSi XL, movies and games would be even more enjoyable.PSN/XBL: BLINX1234 -

That Nintendo E3 website is running slow for me. Probably getting hammered with traffic now. I just wanted to know how they will handle these 3D movies. I don't understand how it will all fit on those cartridges, which I believe top out at 2 GB.
At the E3 show they ran 3D trailers for Tangled and the Zack Snyder movie (I forgot the title - the one with CG owls) on the actual 3DS screen. So it seems like Nintendo is saying the studios are backing them on this and will offer media. It'd be interesting to see these studios manufacture special 3D movie cartridges just for Nintendo - UMD didn't take off, how will 3DS movies take off?
I wonder what Avatar 3D on 3DS would be like

the res for those things is going to be pretty low, and with no surround track etc. 2 gigs is more than enough for a full length film even in 3D

a .mkv movie with full 1080p and DTS soundtrack can be squeezed into a 4 GB container and projected to a 21:9 96" screen without too much degradation.
2-channel movie at SD (or less) resolutionx2 (and most probably SD res or less + difference channel) should fit the 2 GB container space with room for extras.Follow my A/V twitter @davidsusilo

I don't think I could hunch over a DS for 2 straight hours to watch a movie, even if it's in 3D.
In addition, 3D just isn't as lifelike on a tiny screen. Toggling anaglyph Youtube videos from full screen to the smallest size is a big difference.
That said, I would consider one if it can play Youtube 3D or at least side-by-side MP4 (which I can download from Youtube).
