I wonder if the 3D effect significantly diminishes randomly over time on these sets to 'extend their life' o_O.

It now seems that many are now willing to spend $4,000 on a bloomin TV. Have we all lost our minds?
To beowuff: Ever had about six guests in your home to watch the "BIG" game? I agree with you. I have my doubts that 3D in its current form will catch on except for the nerdy early adopters who probably watch TV by themselves anyway. (just slightly joking of course). -

Love Panny plasmas...no interest in 3d @ home though :/ This years Panny plasmas close the gap left by Pioneer on their Kuro line. While they still aren't quite there...the difference is becoming negligible from what I've read. These models do have some of the old Kuro tech

From what I've read(and maybe I'm wrong), this years line of Pannys are very, very similar to last years. I hear the black levels are identical. And last years line of Panny's didn't even come close to Kuro quality.
Also, has panasonic addressed/fixed their widespread issue of black levels significantly reducing over night?Blu-ray Discs Owned: 237

The VT25 series is brand new - like nothing before it. It uses fast decay time Green and Red phosphors.
According to Panasonic - that was an issue with some 2009 HDTVs and not 2010 HDTVsAlso, has panasonic addressed/fixed their widespread issue of black levels significantly reducing over night? -

Last I read on it Panny said it was a firmware issue that increased levels too much to compensate for normal use. Wouldn't think it would be an issue with the new sets. And even on last year's G10 this was a rare occurrence...I've installed 3 G10's for friends and none of the sets have this problem.
The Panny plasmas have the best picture out there right now...unless (like was previously said) you can find a Kuro out there somewhere. -

Supposedly Panasonic has reprogrammed the software to make the incremental adjustments in 2010 models (and beyond, presumably) more gradual and less noticeable. The verdict's still out, though it's hard to refute the growing evidence out there that the compensation in their previous models is neither "normal" nor acceptable by consumer tastes. I love Panny's (have 2) but have advised my friends/family to hold off on the discounted 2008/9 models as a result. Only time will tell on the new product line.
For 3D HDTVs, Panasonic is definitely ahead of the pack in terms of their offerings. Really, would it kill them to include two pairs of glasses for early adopters? Until the 3D software/content catches up with the hardware, however, I don't see a compelling reason at all to replace my 58" plasma...and even then, not for a couple years for my ROI.
