I also put in a few movies with DTS-HD MA tracks such as I, Robot and Master and Commander. They both worked fine and were clear as a bell. Could it be something wrong with the way the audio was mastered? When I played Pan's Labyrinth on the PS3 it didn't make the loud hissing noises. Perhaps it's just the movie. Good thing I rented it. A bad movie gets a bad audio transfer

BTW, I have an Onkyo 606 as my receiver (down below)
Its probably the movie although, Ive read some issues on the "popping" sound. I have the 605 reciever and I also rock the Ps3 as my Blu player. Now, Ive never had any of these issues that you have mentioned and what ive read. I do know tht my reciever does not need a firmware update because I looked up my model number and I was also sure that it wasnt going to need one because I purchased my reciever late into the year. Now, If you have the 605 reciever, you might want to follow up and see if it still needs that firmware update. Not all movies are going to have the popping sound.
