Wait a minute...sorry if I don't fully understand the techinal jargon here (although quite literal)....This movie is not 16: 9, but will have black bars on the side like watching an old TV show (shot in 4:3) like Fresh Prince on DirecTV HD?????

The movie is enhanced for 16:9 TV's but since the aspect ratio isn't quite as wide as your 1.78:1 TV it will not fill it completely from side to side. The bars on the sides won't be nearly as large as the ones when watching a 4:3 TV show. This is the correct way to present 1.66:1 films.
