those formats are dead. you aren't going to see many playstation 3 owners using either of these formats, even though their player supports one of them (the sony-backed one -- sacd). if sony couldn't or didn't want to use the ps3 to resuscitate sacd, then sacd never really had any chance.
most people don't even know sacd or dvd-a exist. you're living in the land of mostly drm-protected (or even if they weren't drm-protected you would have to do a lossy conversion from aac to mp3 format in order to play on any non-apple mp3 player, except for the sony bean player, which hardly anyone owns -- i believe that most non-apple mp3 player owners have a sandisk sansa or creative zen, neither of which play aac).
if you want better than cd quality, you better hope that blu-ray audio takes off. you might have some half decent selection with blu-ray audio, and you will probably be able to get a blu-ray audio player for your car.
