The Empire Strikes Back - Everything a sci-fi sequel should be. The Empire Strikes Back with its bigger budget and great direction became the fan favorite Star Wars movie with good reason. Its fucking amazing. Its trip accross the galaxy is filled with amazing spectical and lots of brain. This is a thinking mans sci-fi action movie. Vader here is as amazing as he has ever been. Yoda proves what amazing acting can come from a muppet. The shocking ending is still referenced in pop culture to death. Its hard to hind classic sci-fi like this.
The Terminator - The original Terminator is a sci-fi masterpeice on every level. An amazing story, lots of tension, great preformances by all actors, kick ass action this movie has it all. Its both a warning about mans technology and a love story about a man who travels through time to save the woman he loves. Its deep involving and brilliant. I hope to God McG doesn't screw up this franchise. Fingers crossed.
Aliens - How sequels should be done. Heres a movie that rather then rehash its predessesor actually took the series in a different direction and actually did it very well. Its sci-fi action to the extreme and every actor gives it his all. A shame that the Alien has sucked every time he has been on screen since but the first two movies are true sci-fi treasures
Revenge of the Sith - The Star Wars prequels for all there flaws got much better as they went along. Attack of the Clones was much better then The Phantom Menace and Revenge of the Sith was flat out amazing. This movie removed all we didn't like about the previous prequels (too much bad love dialog, childish characters) and gave us much more of what was good. The movie opens with a battle stunning enough to be the end battle of lesser movies and features more lightsaber duels then the rest of the series combined. Whats more is the end is so beautifully tragic and it did a fantastic job of bring the series full circle. In my opinion (disagree if you must) every bit as good as The Empire Strikes Back.
